The rollercoaster ride has begun…

If you are reading this, chances are you have received your invitation in the mail or your inbox.

If you haven’t, and your just a random surfer, then feel free to read – but (no offence) please don’t turn up. We won’t be able to accommodate you…

Okay, so we have started the great rollercoaster ride of organising our wedding….er, handfasting.

What’s the difference, you ask?

Well, technically none I guess – unless we both sign a piece of paper, our society doesn’t recognise our union! However, legally we are considered defacto because we have been living together for over six months – which gives us the same legal rights as a married couple… go figure!

But it’s not about legalities and official pieces of paper – its about doing something to recognise that we are making this commitment! That recognition is just as much for ourselves, as it is for our family, friends and community.

Which is why we have chosen to perform a Handfasting, rather than a traditional Christian or Secular wedding. After all, our respective spiritualities could be loosely categorised as “pagan”…

As things progress, we will keep you all informed of what’s happening and how it’s developing. This is also going to be the place to watch for breaking news and information regarding the day, such as weather warnings….

And as I get to it, I’ll be posting up little tid-bits of trivia surrounding handfasting ceremonies, and why we are doing what we are doing.

So here we go….

See you on the day!

…Pete…
